The more I read about the aftermath of the horrific gang rape in Richmond, the more it becomes clear to me that this entire town is one big toilet bowl. Instead of focusing the rage on the attackers, whomever they may be, and calling for these lowlife animals to be strapped to a good old fashioned electric chair as soon as possible, I am hearing excuses.
According to the Mercury News, Richmond Assemblywoman Nancy Skinner told a gathering on Saturday that “economic stresses, foreclosures and other combinations may have exacerbated the horrific crime.”
Are we talking about robbing a bank or brutally raping a young girl for over 2 hours? Come on, now. We all hate the economic crisis and we can certainly blame it for plenty of woes in this country but isn’t it a little unfair to bring that into this twisted equation?
English teacher Jessica Price was quoted in the Mercury News as saying that the attackers ‘…weren’t picturing that girl as human’ and that ‘… you see these kind of boys at a lot of high schools – so desensitized it was like they saw her as a toy.’
Desensitized? By what? Television? Video games? If that is the case then this kind of event should be a regular occurrence at every school in America. Once again, the blame is being shifted away from the attackers and placed squarely on the shoulders of society.
What takes the cake for me though, is a quote in the same paper attributed to Chuckie Pelayo, who according to the San Francisco Gate is “leader of a pack that hangs out at the corner of Hayes Street and Emeric Avenue, one block from the rape scene.” He stated that ‘we’ve all been to prison, and we know the code of how you’re supposed to behave’ and that ‘these younger guys, they don’t know the code.’
What code is he talking about? The Davinci code? Morse code? It sounds like society is once again being blamed for this atrocious crime. Do we really have to teach boys that brutalizing a young lady for more than 2 hours is not cool?
Here is the bottom line. Is it possible that the attackers are just evil men who are controlled by their own lust and perversion? Are we so enslaved by a sense of political correctness that we have to make excuses for people who do such horrible things? Does it always have to be the fault of everybody else?
Let the defense lawyers make the excuses. That’s their job. For me, the case is black and white. A young girl’s life may well have been ruined by a bunch of animals who need to be held completely accountable for their actions.
Memo to Satan: Let’s get the heat turned up in hell a couple of notches for a couple of new (permanent) residents.

So they did not see her as a human? It was all because of social issues? Then it is fair to say it was hate right! So be hold them accountable and use the new hate crimes as a standard right?
Crime is crime there is always some sort of hate involved and if you have a law against the crime why have another law because you are not enforcing the current laws.
Your article and assessment was right on. I just want to add another progressive power grab mentality into the mix to show it its stupidity.

The evil; it’s everywhere.

Most of the public schools that I went to were run by gangs. The just say no thing was not an option. You want respect, you take it by killing, raping or whatever. Saying that this isn’t a social problem is ignorant. This sort of thing happens all the time and hardly anything is done to stop it.

This is a terrible article.
To explain an event is not to excuse it. Nathan is enraged at attempts to account for this outlier (and it certainly is an outlier) as though they were trying to justify it, or reduce blame from the attackers. No such thing is taking place.
An honest discussion about possible factors for these tragedies can lead to policies which *might* just deter events such as this in the future.

Nathan Hale proves himself to be just as bad as everyone he vilifies. We have a justice system for this sort of thing, we don’t need more hate added to the mix.

I think the “code” this guy is referencing is about rape. Prisoners look down on it. If you go to prison for rape, especially against a child, you’re going to get raped in prison.

You think thats bad, come to South Africa. We have a rape every five minutes. Babies, girls, grandmothers, fathers, wives, dogs, everything that can be raped gets raped in South Africa.
In the townships of South Africa, if you get caught by the community for rape. You better know how to run fast or hope their are at least 30 police somewhere close by, armed with mace and rubber bullets. Cos the community will beat you to death. No really, I’ve been with the cops many times, watching a man been beaten to death and they wont go anywhere near the scene until they have a station’s worth of backup. Cos the crowd turns on the police. Okay, there was one time where a single black woman went in there and sorted it out. But she is a whole other story.
Why people rape, well thats one of the great questions that I really doubt we will understand. It is from what I gather, is that its a power thing. Having total power over someone.
What should happen to rapists? well rape could be quickly sorted out with a sharp knife, cutting board and a very thick set of gloves.
Oh and maybe a tattoo on the forhead that reads Rapist! Oh the public shame, the pain they will go through. Plus if you really luck out, they might kill themselves. Which would be sweet.

‘these younger guys, they don’t know the code.’
The code is far from formalized, but essentially don’t commit aggression against those not in the game needlessly.

I knew of two gang rapes at my high school in an affluent suburb. Seems to me like the main difference between this one and those is that there aren’t wealthy parents to cover over everything.
