I had always assumed that Al Gore selflessly gave up another shot at the Presidency in 2008 because he wanted to stay in the private sector and heroically help save the world from death and destruction brought on by global warming. Now I’m being told that he might actually make a fortune off it? Shocking…
Not.
What is shocking is that anyone is surprised by the news that Al Gore’s Silver Spring Networks company is benefiting from some $560 million in grants given by the energy department. Did anyone actually think that Al Gore was going to turn a profit by selling cow fart catalytic converters or solar ovens to common people?
The fact is, the average person doesn’t buy Al Gore’s load of crap so he has to depend on like-minded wackos in the government to make sure that his investments were not made in vain.
And you and I, the American taxpayers, are being forced to help him make a return on that investment. Even if we know that it’s a bunch of hooey.
And then there’s the obvious conflict of interest.
Can you imagine if it was revealed that a former Republican vice president stood to make a ton of money from energy department contracts? You could forget about health care reform. The Dems would be demanding investigations, calling for resignations, and decrying the corruption and greed of the Republican Party.
I’ll be surprised if even one of the mostly gutless wonders that make up the Republican Party right now calls for an investigation much less actually succeed in getting one started. I wonder how many Democrats and moderate Republicans in Congress have also invested in Gore’s companies?
Here’s the real inconvient truth about all of this. This global warming push has always been about green. Crisp green bills, that is.
Why else would someone invest so much of his life (Gore claims 30 years) trying to shove a theory down our throats that has been shown time-and-time again to be nothing but a big farce? It can’t be about prestige. Gore has very little left of that.
It has to be about the money. It always is.
